A while ago, whilst researching my fathers war records, starting from scratch I might add, i had no idea what I was doing. An article was put in the Burma Star Magazine, asking if anyone knew my father, must admit I wasn't feeling very optimistic . Weeks and months passed, nothing. Then one day a letter came through my door, it made me cry. It was from a war veteran an elderly gent giving me some clues as to what I should do next. His handwriting was shaky, and the fact that he had even paid for the postage, even though he doesn't know me. upset me. That was a wonderful day for me, because he was my dad was special to me I know everyone understands, because they have dads too. At present, I am researching my family tree and researching dads war records , Cant stop wont stop, got to find out more, it all seems a little silly, but I do believe that we have got to teach our children, and their children, because our parents went through so much, we really will never know, and also tell our children how it was. so that they will know, and feel so proud like we do, and also to appreciate how lucky they are,
